Co-Curriculum
Green Gems International School gives importance of Co Curriculum Activities for all the students.
Co-curricular refers to activities, programs, and learning experiences that complement, in some way, what students are learning in school. For example experiences that are connected to or mirror the academic curriculum. Co-curricular activities are typically, but not always, defined by their separation from academic courses. Musicians are known to express themselves through song and melody to convey how they are feeling in life, which allows listeners to relate and find comfort in the music. Music prompts people in every culture around the world to dance and express how they feel with movement.
Music:
Music is an extremely important subject for all the children to learn and can lead to better brain development, increases in human connection, and even stress relief. Music helps our children learn across subjects and can help to build social and cultural values, too. The aim in classes is to develop our child’s aesthetic judgment of different types of music. Learning music promotes craftsmanship, and our students learn to want to create good work instead of mediocre work. By practicing with musical instruments our students can improve their hand-eye coordination.
Dance:
It is a powerful medium to express one’s values, thoughts, and aspirations about the lives we live and the world in which we live. Education in the art of dance develops the knowledge and skills required to create, perform, and understand movement as a means of artistic communication.
Our goal is to inspire the students in dance to explore the many facets of dance and prepare them for a lifetime of engagement with the art form. Through dance our students learn teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills. Dance awakens new perceptions in children which help them learn and think in new ways. Our students can express and communicate their ideas and have the opportunity to make creative decisions, even at a young age. Through dance, our students can gain a multitude of important developments, sensory and spatial awareness, coordination, concentration and mobility. Regular dance practice can increase our student’s flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health.
Drama:
Drama is part of real life and prepares students to deal with life’s problems. Drama simply allows students the opportunity to rehearse roles, further giving form or shape to the individual and personal ideas and feelings they are naturally experiencing.
Drama allows our students to communicate with and understand others in new ways.
Drama increase motivation, concentration and focus while also stretching our students perspective through pretend play and enhancing their comprehension and writing.
Drama is a performing art, an outlet for self-expression, and a way of learning. Drama is an effective learning tool because it involves the student intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. It can challenge students’ perceptions about their world and about themselves.
The importance of drama and performing arts in education is significant. For example, our drama students learn to approach situations in an array of different manners which can help to develop creative thinking and new study techniques. It is a method of teaching and learning where both the students and teachers are working in and out of role. Creative drama helps our students learn about emotions, problem solving, and relating to other people. Drama develops a range of physical skills and techniques eg movement, body language, posture, gesture, gait, co-ordination, stillness, timing, control, facial expression, eye contact, listening, expression of mood, spatial awareness, interaction with other performers, dance and choral movement.
Arts & Craft:
Art is a great way to explore feelings and build empathy. As a form of nonverbal communication, Art allows kids to process and express their feelings, both big and small. Reflecting upon their work and Art by others can help kids build empathy and a deeper understanding of other people. Art help learners to develop creative problem-solving skills. Teaching through the arts can present difficult concepts visually, making them easier to understand.
By this Art we help our students to try new things, manage risk, and handle failure. The Arts provide our students with a multitude of options for expressing and communicating their ideas and students learn to think about problems from a broad range of perspectives. Art is important because it encompasses all the developmental domains in child development. Art lends itself to physical development and the enhancement of fine and gross motor skills. Our students learn about themselves and others through Art activities. It really helps them to build self-esteem.
The process of Arts and Crafts also strengthens parent-child bonding. Arts and Craft activities help instil a sense of achievement and pride in children, boosting their self-confidence. The opportunity to create whatever a child desires helps foster creativity.
When creating an Arts and Crafts project, our students are able to develop their fine motor skills. Art also allows our students to expand their essential vocabulary. They learn the names of different shapes, colors, and materials without it seeming like a chore or a memorization exercise. Creating Art expands our students’ ability to interact with the world around them, and provides a new set of skills for self-expression and communication. Not only does Art help to develop the right side of the brain, it also cultivates important skills that benefit our students’ development.
Arts and crafts provides our students’ platform to create new things. It makes them think differently and to innovate. The ability to solve problems the kid encounters while taking up a project work promotes creativity. In short Arts and Crafts makes our kids more resourceful and versatile.
Our students using their senses to engage in Art and creativity are constantly developing, practicing and refining their skills. They improve fine and gross motor skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation, and movement.
