Plot
Struggling with his dual identity, failed comedian Arthur Fleck meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn, while incarcerated at Arkham State Hospital. Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson and director-writer Todd Phillips talk about what scared them the most about making a musical sequel. . The subtitle of the film is "Folie a Deux" means “The Folly of Two”; in French. This initially led to speculation that Harley Quinn would appear in the film, which was confirmed shortly after. The name Folie a Deux comes from the 19th century French psychiatrists Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret. The term was coined to refer to two or more people who share the same insanity or delusion.

The foreman of the jury speaks of “the people of New York”; Instead of Gotham City. This is because New York State is the plaintiff in the criminal case, and this version of Gotham City is apparently located in New York State (most versions have Gotham in New Jersey). The film opens with the Looney Tunes title sequence, featuring the Warner Bros. logo surrounded by rings and the Joker’s face. Their personalities change

The director goes on to make a sequel which is sadly empty with no character development.Phillips outdid himself in directing the film with excellent cinematography/visuals that capture all the emotions and feelings it wants to tell and express. BUT he failed to create a compelling story. From the first part to the second, usually the characters in the film change. They curve either up or down. Events/obstacles come along their journey, changing their lives.
The end result is an overall dull movie that is ONLY visually entertaining
OR, new characters enter their lives, opening the door to more interesting events along their journey, creating “Folie à Deux”. In this movie, Joker/Arthur Fleck’s life doesn’t seem to change much when Gaga’s character Lee is added. Instead, the film repeats its events by going back to the past (the first Joker film) or reacting to some of its scenes. It also keeps going back and forth to the same places and events in this movie. This movie introduces two major characters in the world of Gotham, Harvey Dent, played horribly by Harry Lawtey and written even worse. At the end of the movie I felt that he was useless and being taken advantage of by his 'name' within comic book fans. The same goes for Lady Gaga’s Lee, who simply felt like she wasn’t even in this movie.
But the song choices weren’t right
I enjoy how this movie uses music/songs to show that it is a MUST for our guts. On the other hand, the cinematography skills of Gaga or Joaquin Phoenix and Lawrence Sher made their performances good.
