School Rules & Regulations

The administration and teachers of GGIS believe that students must commit themselves to learn and accept responsibility for their work and behavior. Our goal is to focus on the students’ development of personal attitudes towards people, towards the environment and towards learning.

We encourage the students to be confident, cooperative and creative, have self-discipline, responsibility, curiosity, empathy, to be enthusiastic, independent, principled, to respect, share and care each other and to be a knowledgeable person. We prepare the students to be a good human being. Parents, guardians and students are required to become familiar with all the Rules and Regulations at GGIS, respect them at all times and adhere to the guidelines stipulated.
The following school rules and regulations apply to student actions at all times.

Reporting to school:

Students must be in school 5 minutes before the starting time. Students will not be allowed to enter the premises after the reporting timing. Reporting time will be given before the new session begins.

  • Assembly

School assembly is held regularly. There are different assemblies in five days. Students must be present at the assembly. Important announcements are made during assembly.

Fitness Sunday— PT, March Past, Different Exercises

Reading Monday— Reading alone, Share with their pair, In group, Quiz, Question, Newspaper reading, Story Telling

Mindfulness Tuesday— Meditation, Yoga, Aerobics

Reflective Wednesday— Sharing, Guest speakers, Morality, Movie, Teachers sharing about their ideas, experiences etc., Students sharing about their reflection

Presentation Thursday: Individual, In groups, pair presentation, Teacher’s presentation, Display, Specific Theme, Birthday Greeting, Awards giving

Apart from these there are many Events which is celebrated according to the calendar.

  • Student behavior

In the school premises, students should:

  1. Be punctual on reporting timing in the morning and for individual classes.
  2. Greet teachers and other staff members when they see them during the day.
  3. Greet teachers when they come to take their classes. However, when the class is going on, the students should concentrate on their activity and if principal or any teachers enter the class, it is not needed to greet them during the class.
  4. Come to school preparing with all the materials needed and be ready to begin working on time.
  5. Keep to the left of the stairs and corridors. Allow school faculties to go first.Refrain from pushing, running and shouting in the school.
  1. Speak in English at all times except during Bangla classes.
  2. Maintain silence in the library, leave the tables clear of books and chairs in their original place when leaving.
  3. Not remain on school premises after school, unless for help classes or if asked by a faculty member.
  4. Refrain from inappropriate physical intimacy with other students. Students found in compromising positions will be immediately expelled.     

At Home students should:

  • Spend some time completing homework, assignment, project work and study for Tests, Marked class work (MCW), Exams etc.
  • Read at least one page each day. For ex. storybook, newspaper, magazine etc.
  • Keep a personal diary and write few lines on any topic every day for practicing the writing skills.

Picking up/dropping off students

    1. Drivers picking up and dropping off students must queue in a single file at the gates.
    2. Drivers should not double park or use the horn (unless to avoid an accident).
    3. Whomever, including parents coming to pick up a student must present the student’s I.D. card. Under no circumstances shall the student be handed over to anyone without the student’s I.D. card.
    4. In circumstances when parents or guardians enter the school gate to drop off / pick up their child/children, they must wait at the designated area and not be freely roaming around the school premises.

Attendance and Absence Procedure

  1. Students are required to attend school regularly. If a student is absent, teachers will call the parents and will take the absence update of that child.
  2. Students should never leave the school premises for any reason during the school hours. If any parent wants to take their child early, need to contact the office and fill the early leave form to take their child.
  3. Whenever a student is absent from school for any reason, the following procedure should be followed. Firstly, parents should telephone the school office the first morning of the student’s illness to notify the school of the absence. When the child will come to school the next day, the class teacher will give the absence form in the diary. Parents have to check the diary and fill the form and send it the next day in the diary. Requests for holiday or absence must be made three (3) clear days in advance on the form available at the school office. In order to encourage full school attendance, a 100% ‘Attendance Award’ is given to all students who achieve this. Attendance at all school events is mandatory in order to qualify for this award.
  4. Parents should encourage their children to be regular at school.

Sending Tiffin/Snacks:

  • Parents are not allowed to send food items to school at any time during the school day, if any parent fails to give, the parents have to give the tiffin/snacks at the gate by 9:00 am to the guards by writing their child’s name on a piece of paper.
  • Mother’s visit: once a year mothers will come, visit the class, and see their child’s activity. The mothers will be informed in the diary.
  • Events: Students must attend all the school events. If the students do not attend the event, they will not achieve the 100% award. The parents are requested to attend the events whenever they are invited.

Homework, Class work, Tests and Help class

  1. Homework is set regularly and students are encouraged to do their homework by themselves.
  2. Students are expected to complete homework and class work assignments neatly, carefully and on time.
  3. Parents are requested to sign their child’s diary regularly in order to be well informed of homework, assignments and notices given by the teachers. Failure to do so, may result in miscommunication between parents and teachers.
  4. Students should work to their full potential.
  5. If a student has trouble in completing an assignment or homework with ‘good cause’, the student’s parent should explain the situation to the teacher with a short note in their child’s diary.
  6. Each semester will have 6/7 class tests on each subjects during class period. The class test notice will be given at least three days before. THERE ARE NO MAKE-UP TESTS/RETESTS IN GGIS. All absences during tests are marked with a ‘0’. However, there will be two extra tests in each semester so that the students, who could not attend the test for a valid reason, can give the extra test.
  7. When students have been absent for more than 20% for one semester, in this case, the school will not be responsible for the students’ progress and he/she will lose the classes and if the child’s progress is not up to the mark, might repeat the year.
  8. Students who are ill are not allowed to come to school just to sit for tests or an examination. Test and examination grades will be kept confidential and only disclosed to the concerned student’s parents.
  9. After regular school hours students who have help classes must remain in school until the given time. School will take the help class for the weak students. Please encourage your child to do the help class so that your child can overcome the difficulties. If any parent does not want their child to do the help class, in this case, the parents have to take the responsibility of their child’s progress.
  10. Any parent wants to collect the homework if their child is absent, must send the diary by 9:00 am to the security guard and has to give some time for the teachers to prepare the homework.
  • Diaries
    1. The GGIS diary is the easiest, most accessible and the preferred method of communication between the school and parents. Messages for individual teachers and comments or any queries should be noted in the diary.
    2. School diaries should be checked and signed by parents daily.
    3. In addition to homework assignments, it often contains important notices and information.
    4. The diary check record at the beginning of the diary and the hygiene check record at the end of the diary must be signed by the parent /guardian when the class teacher will give the notice.
  • Respect for School and Personal Property
    1. Students are required to use equipment and materials in school for their intended purposes only. They will be accountable for improper care of schoolbooks, educational materials, school furniture, sports, laboratory equipment, their classrooms etc.
    2. Parents of students who damage, misplace, deface or destroy school property will be billed for damages.
    3. Students should not bring valuable items to school including expensive pens, jewelers, watches, electronic equipment (including mobile phones, CD’s and CD players) and unreasonable amounts of cash. Students are encouraged not to bring sums of money to school unless necessary, nor should they lend to or borrow from other students. GGIS will not bear responsibility for recovering any money that has been loaned or valuables that may be alleged to be stolen. Disallowed equipment will be confiscated by the school authorities if found by teachers during random checks and only be returned at the end of the school year to parents or guardians.
    4. Students should make every effort to respect school property and keep it neat and clean at all times.
  • Fees and Payments
    1. All fees and charges must be paid by the stipulated due date. Fine will be charged if the fees are not paid on time.
    2. Students will not be able to sit for the Semester Exams and Report cards will not be issued unless all school bills have been cleared.
    3. The school will inform the parents at least one month before for increasing any fees or for any development charges of school.
    4. Transfer or Graduation Certificates will not be issued unless all dues have been cleared.
    5. Parents are requested to carefully read, sign and confirm to the payment schedules and Rules and Regulations lay out by the account’s office.
  • Dress Code
    1. Students are expected to wear the correct and complete school uniform to school each day as well as the appropriate sports uniform during Games class.
    2. Neatness and cleanliness are encouraged. Uniforms should be clean and pressed.
    3. Students arriving in incorrect or incomplete uniform, the marks will be deducted in the hygiene check record.
    4. Students are not allowed to wear make-up to school or any kind of trinkets, baubles, or coloured ribbons, other than black, blue or white. Boys cannot keep long hair. No hair dye is to be used by students.
  • Parents entering school premises
    1. Parents/Guardians are not allowed to come inside the school premises unless to meet a teacher or member of the administrative staff.
    2. When stopped at the school gate by the security, parents/guardians need to fill up the gate pass to enter the school. Parents open day is on every Wednesday & Thursday after school for half an hour. Only these two days parents/guardians can enter the school without filling up the gate passes to meet the teachers.
  • Transfer Certificates
    1. Parents are required to give, in writing, two months’ notice of intention to withdraw their child. Unless the required notice is given, a transfer certificate will not be issued and the parents will be liable to pay fees until the end of the school year.
    2. Transfer Certificate will only be issued after students have obtained a clearance certificate from the school accountant, librarian, class teacher and office.
